I just tested this. It pops up a warning if you try to edit an officer note by hand, but it does not log that change - it just calls out to the built-in officer note editing routine.

There are a few things you could do to protect yourself from this (exporting the log and uploading it to epgpweb.com for example), but the best policy is to not have officers or lootmasters who would abuse this power.

The log isn't stored in the guild roster - only locally, so this would be hard for the addon author to implement in any case. While you could try to find an addon that announced (or whispered) changes to any officer note, it would only work when you were online.

There just isn't any place for an addon to store an audit trail server-side. And even if there was, if somone really wanted to they could just run a hacked version of the addon with that bit taken out.

i was just curious, say if im an officer of my guild, and i change the ep/gp manually through clicking officer notes, and change it, does it log it in the ep/gp manual or what ever, or say something in the guild?

Indeed, the only difference is that your current balance is the result of an operation instead of a number stored directly in the loot standings.

I may have missed some crucial detail here, but if you change to a system of EP - GP, is that not just fixed-price DKP with a different name?

You earn points by raiding, and points you spend on gear are subtracted from the total.

@klozoh
If all you are looking to do is change from EP/GP to EP-GP, you should try it out "as is" first. I think it does what you want, but thinking in ratio of points instead of absolute points is hard to grasp at first.

I used EPGP as a base for our loot system. The addon is very solid and made tracking of points simple. The code is well done and it was easy to make calls to the Mod to get and update EPGP values.

In the end, it was a totaly different loot system than EPGP even though I still used the EPGP mod.

To make the change to EP-GP, there are only a few places you have to change in the code. I can drive backwards down the interstate very easily just by putting my car in reverse.

I am saying that if you change EP/GP to be EP-GP, you've created an entirely different loot system, one for which no addon exists.

Really, it's a bad idea. Go through the math of how it works using division and prove to yourself how using subtraction breaks the formulas.

EP/GP is a ratio-based system. Ratios = Division. If you want to use the idea of separate tallies of effort and gear received that's fine, but you can't just co-opt the ideas of EP/GP, change the arithmetic operator and expect the rest of the system to continue to work.
