'[LFG] [Foobar:70] LF any Level 70 Raid'
I keep seeing this sort of thing in LFG, and I just don’t get it.
I get the obvious motivation behind it – people who have just upgraded to WotLK think that they can get a nice set of tier 4/5/6 that will make their leveling experience in Northrend quicker than using quest-provided greens.
If you’re one of these people, listen up cupcake. I gots some learning for you.
- nobody is running level 70 content the way they used to today. If they run it at all, it’s a retro run for fun, just like people used to run MC in the days of TBC
- if someone does choose to do a retro run of kara / ssc / the eye / mh / bt, they’re going to want to skip as much trash as possible. They aren’t going to want to clear all the trash, which was required back when the content was current and will be required if they’re dragging someone with a huge agro radius along with
- in addition to skipping trash, people are often going for the achievement only. The achievement for these dungeons are keyed to the final boss, not all of the bosses like Naxxramas. The number of drops will be smaller than a full clear back in the day. Less drops = less chance that one will be useful to you
- quest greens from Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord are ilevel 138, and around 3/4 of the way into the zone, you’ll have one in every slot, which are more or less equivalent to Karazhan drops
So, even if you were an attractive pick for a group doing a retro run, you’re wasting your time trying to gear up this way. Go do quests and come back to pick up the achievements at 80 if you so choose.
